“Bank of Lanzhou Cup” Lanzhou Marathon 2024 Registration Guideline

I. Basic Information

1. Date and time: May 26, 2024 (Sunday) 7:30 am.


2. Race Category:

Marathon (42.195km)

Half Marathon (21.0975km)

Health Run (5km)

Family Run (5km)


3. Limit: 40,000 totally

Marathon: 20,000

Half Marathon: 6,000

Health Run: 8,000

Family Run: 6,000


II. Important Notice

1. Before the race, participants must always know their own physical health status, especially the sudden cold, fever, viral infection, and other diseases before the race, but also need to know their past medical history: history of coronary heart disease (especially myocardial infarction), history of hypertension and family history of sudden death.


2. The ballot winners of the marathon and half marathon must submit the Physical Examination Reports issued by the hospital (above grade 2) since past 12 months. The physical examinations mainly include blood pressure, routine electrocardiogram, or 24-hour Holter electrocardiogram or exercise tablet test (one of three can be available), such as high blood pressure or obvious abnormal electrocardiogram (such as significant bradycardia, etc.) need to have additionally heart color ultrasound tests. See the examination form as attached at the end.


3. Please be aware that participants should not use the previous finish certificate to replace the medical report; electrocardiogram and cardiac ultrasound cannot represent each other.


III. Registration Fees:

1. Marathon: 160RMB / person; Half Marathon: 120RMB / person; Health Run, Family Run: 60RMB / person.

2. Payment method: Alipay and Wechat pay via registration platform.


IV. Registration date / Procedure

1. Registration Process for Marathon and Half Marathon:

(1) First phrase: Pre-registration: 10:00 of April 2nd-17:00 of April 6th, 2024

(2) Second phrase: announcement of name list, including ballot winners, runners with permanent bibs, candidates, etc.

① Announcement date: 10:00 of April 7th, 2024

② Submit Time of Health Reports by above participants: 10:00 of April 7th to 17:00 of April 11th, 2024.

③ Payment Dates: Those who pass the verification of pre-race physical examination report will complete the payment from 10:00 on April 15th to 17:00 on April 17th, fail of payment would be considered as giving up; and the canceled qualification will be re-allocated to candidates by random until the limit is reached.

(3) Third phrase: The candidate should submit the Physical Examination Report and make payments

According to the situation of the second phrase, the Organizing Committee will inform the waiting candidates to submit the physical examination reports from April 18th to 30th and make payments until the amount is full to limit. The specific process is as follows.

① Time for submitting physical examination report: within 5 days after receiving notification messages of submitting Physical Examination Report. The audit results will be sent by text message the day after the submission of the physical examination report.

② Payment time: Candidates who pass the physical examination reports will receive the payment notification SMS. Please complete the payment within 3 days afterwards. If the candidate completes the payment within the specified time, the registration will be deemed to be successful. Failure in payment will be deemed to have given up the qualification voluntarily.


2. Procedure of Registration of Health Run and Family Run:

(1) Pre-registration time: from 10:00 of April 2nd to 17:00 of April 6th, 2024, willing candidates must click “candidate” button on line while registering to get candidate chances;

(2) Announcement of the ballot winner/candidate list: 10:00 of April 7th, 2024;

(3) Payment time: Those who have been announced are required to complete the payment within from 10:00 of April 7th to 17:00 of April 11th, 2024. Failure in payment will be deemed to have given up the qualification voluntarily, which will be allocated to other candidates, until the limit is reached.

(4) Announcement of the list of successful candidates: 10:00 of April 12th, 2024.

(5) The rest will get refund within 7 working days. Please check the refund situation through the original payment channel and account number.


3. The registration fees are non-refundable once the payment is made.


4. Participants with below health conditions are not suggested to register:

(1) Blood pressure test (required): blood pressure was significantly higher than the normal range: systolic blood pressure (90mmHg- -130mmHg) diastolic blood pressure (60mmHg- -90mmHg) and significantly unmatched with the age.

(2) Electrocardiogram test (required): routine electrocardiogram or 24-hour Holter electrocardiogram or sports pedal experiment (choose one of the three). It is not recommended to participate based on their if below conditions occur:

① Heart rate is significantly beyond the normal range (60-100 beats / min) and has no correlation with long-term exercise;

② Exercise plate test is positive;

③ Frequent, multisource ventricular premature beats or pair occurrence, double rhythm, triple rhythm and other dangerous arrhythmia;

④ R-on-T syndrome;

⑤ Pathogenic sinus node syndrome;

⑥ obvious signs of coronary heart disease such as myocardial ischemia and injury.

⑦ Preexcitation syndrome;

⑧ Long Q-T syndrome, etc.


5. Cardiac color ultrasound (non-required test): Participants with the following diagnoses are not recommended to participate:

(1) Aortic dissection;

(2) Pulmonary arterial hypertension;

(3) Left ventricular systolic / diastolic function is significantly decreased and inconsistent with age;

(4) Heart structural abnormalities and other obvious heart organic lesions.


6. Self-assessment: Participants with a family history of sudden death, history of coronary heart disease (heart attack), history of severe hypertension, history of severe diabetes are not recommended to participate.

2. Direct-pass Runners are:

(1) Elite Athletes invited by the LOC (Local Organizing Committee);

(2) Runners who have got Lanzhou Marathon permanent number in/before 2023;

(3) New runners who have obtained permanent number in 2024: Participants who have participated in successive 8 editions of our race and all mbcompleted within cut-off time (subject to the previousParticipation Certification). When they join the race of this edition, they can get permanent bibs.

(4) Charity runners:

① There are 50 charity runner spaces open to marathon and half marathon categories. The registration time is 10:00 of April 26th to 17:00 of April 30th, 2024. Entry closes once the limit is reached. After success registration, these runners will be required to hand in pre-race Physical Health Examination Report.

② Donating Fees: 1000RMB/person. Charity runners will be free from ballot and could not be withdrawn once confirmed.


3. Runners to be rejected from registration:

(1) Under suspension penalty by CAA for violating relevant event rules.

(2) Under suspension penalty by the organizing committee for violating relevant rules.

(3) According to the requirements of The World Anti-Doping Code and the Anti-Doping Rules of General Administration of Sport of China, retired athletes in Registered Testing Pools or Testing Pools are not allowed to compete. If they wish to return to competition, they must give six-months prior written notice to Anti-Doping Centre. Only after the application is approved can they compete. If a retired athlete competes in violation of regulations, the result will be cancelled.

VI. Registration Information

1. Age limit

(1) Marathon: over 20 (born before December 31st, 2004).

(2) Half Marathon: over 16 (born before December 31st, 2008).

(3) Health Run: over 13 (born before December 31st, 2011).

(4) Family Run: below 13 (only and must). Each family are permitted for 5 people at the most, to have at least one guardian and one kid under 13 (born after January 1st, 2012) register in the race.

(5) Participants under 18 (born after January 1st, 2007) could only enroll base on the condition that their guardians or legal representatives have signed Participation Declaration.

(6) Participants above 65 years old (born before December 31st, 1959) must be signed by their immediate family members, and decide whether to participate in the competition according to their physical conditions. It is recommended that participants who participate in the health run and family run should have physical examination (electrocardiogram, blood pressure, heart rate and cardiopulmonary function are normal).


2. Health Requirement

Marathon is an athletic sport of high load and great intensity of long distances. It is also a high risk athletic sport. Thus, it requires high physical conditions on participants. Participants should have good health and regularly running or training experience before decision. They must choose competition categories according to their own health conditions and capability, and confirm related terms in Participation Declaration .


It is suggested to have physical tests one month before the race, which includes but not limited to blood pressure, heart rate, cardio-cerebrovascular, heart, lung, liver and kidney function, etc. Those who have diseases / conditions below should not participate:


(1) congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease;

(2) hypertension and cerebrovascular disease;

(3) myocarditis and other heart disease;

(4) coronary artery disease and severe arrhythmia;

(5) diabetes with over high or low blood sugar;

(6) Pregnant;

(7) got flu within 2 weeks before the race;

(8) drink alcohol one night before the race or sleeplessness;

(9) not recovered from infectious diseases;

(10) other diseases unfit for sports.


3. All participants are required to sign Health Commitment Letter.

VII. Important notes

1. In order to strengthen the management of competition ethos and discipline, the Organizing Committee strictly prohibits transferring (or accepting transferring), selling (or buying) the race spaces. It is prohibited for all those who run, rub, forge number bibs or use non-race number bibs to enter the course road. Once found out, violators will be banned for lifetime suspension of participating in the events organized by Lanzhou Marathon Organizing Committee, and the behaviors will be submitted to the CAA (Chinese Athletics Athletics Association) for additional punishments. The Organizing Committee will also reserve the right to investigate the legal liability of the violators for any financial loss or serious impact;


2. Video surveillance will be carried out by the LOC (Local Organizing Committee) at the START, the FINISH, and along the course. Runners conducting the following behaviors would receive organizer’s penalties, such as cancellation of results and qualification, suspension of participation in the next 1 or 2 years, even for lifetime, considering the seriousness of the circumstances. Moreover, this penalty would be reported to the CAA (for additional penalties.

(1) Carry the other runner’s chip, or one runner wears two or more timing chips while running (Including male runners wear female runners’ chips);

(2) Disobey the right starting sequence to start in wrong areas;

(3) Violate rules when start;

(4) Accomplish the race by relay;

(5) Continue the race instead of stopping and quitting after cut-off time, or return to the race after quit;

(6) Not follow the course road, take shortcuts, or jump into the race by taking any transportation vehicles;

(7) Pass the finish line repeatedly or get medals and souvenirs without finishing the race;

(8) Stay still near the starting line or finish line, or on course road (including but not limited to dancing, performing, taking pictures or conducting other behaviors that affects other runners);

(9) Pass the finish line without wearing bibs in correct ways;

(10) Pass the finish line to get medals, by wearing fake number bibs, wearing bibs of other races, or wearing Lanzhou Marathon bibs of previous editions;

(11) Alter or block number bibs;

(12) Use false information such as false age, or pretend to be overseas runners to obtain entry qualification;

(13) Conduct uncivilized behaviors (such as defecating indiscriminately, littering, etc.)

(14) Refuse to follow instructions of working staff, or break the racing order with riotous behaviors or fight each other influencing the race;

(15) Disobey the epidemic prevention requirements stipulated by the LOC;

(16) Conduct other behaviors that violate rules and regulations.
